About
Anne Gibbard
Anne Gibbard MA, MBACP (Accred)
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website which gives details of my private practice in Hinckley. I am a qualified and experienced Person-Centred Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Learning and Development professional. I work with adults individually, in groups and teams.
Here are a few things that you might be interested to know about me and my background:
- Qualified and accredited Psychotherapist, having trained at Warwick and Nottingham Universities.
- I work with individual adults from the age of 18 upwards, working short and long term.
- I would describe my practice as “Pluralistic”, drawing on a range of counselling theories.
Pluralistic Therapy takes the view that as the client you are the expert in your own life, but this uniqueness means you will need different things at different points in the therapy to effect positive change. - Working together in this way, we discover what might help at any given time, identifying goals and strategies to support you throughout the course of therapy and beyond, using well-established evidence-based theories.
- Qualified to master’s degree level (MA in Human Relations).
- BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Registered and Accredited Counsellor
https://www.bacp.co.uk/ - 25 years of NHS, charity and private practice counselling experience.
- Worked as a counselling lecturer, co-tutoring CPCAB Level 4 diploma in counselling.
- Workshop facilitator – I offer a range of professional and personal development learning opportunities that I teach in person locally, within organisations and online.
- Group facilitator working for Breast Cancer Care, supporting groups in Leicestershire.
- Coach to professionals working in local and national organisations, in both the private and public sector.
- Supervisor of therapists and medical staff, with a particular interest in the provision of end-of-life care and bereavement.
- Supervisor of therapists, managers and health and well being staff promoting psychological well-being in higher education.
Alternative Workshops
How did a Psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and facilitator of formal education become involved in facilitating “Alternative Workshops” in topics that are viewed as more mysterious and cryptic?
I was (and still can be) that innocent child who always asked that “why” question. I like to understand how things work, what patterns might mean, how people “tick” and why we are all unique, yet equally share so much in common in our pursuit to understand ourselves and our lives.
What started as a childhood interest in stories, mythology, cultural practices and rituals saw me reading and seeking to learn more about traditional religion. Unsurprisingly my studies about anything that might be linked to divination, or the occult abruptly ceased, more out of fear and superstition. However, my path through life was to me be drawn back to working with people who had confidence in their intuitive “knowing” and hence my study in what many might call “hidden truths” or “mysticism”.
This broader exploration into personal spiritual development allowed me to work with some incredible teachers who supported my own understanding of the intricate interplay between ancient wisdom, spirituality and modern psychology.
Today I offer a range of workshops for individuals who might be similarly interested in uncovering the secrets of ancient arts, which we can use as tools for self-discovery.
